Musical Frankenstein Computers

Laptops are conducive to productivity.

I discovered the wonder of Windows User profiles back in late January and set up a profile for Jess on my PC. It’s a beast, processorally and RAMatically so Photoshop and her are mostly agreeable. Her old Toshiba laptop, we’re talking this thing was bought in 2000, actually has enough processing power to act as my PC controller for Guitar Rig when playing live so we have done a trade of sorts.

Lellowbeee (the tower) has my pro tools rig installed, so if I need to do REAL music stuff I use it, and likewise if she needs Photoshop it is all hers. The laptop, while at home anyway, has become the “other computer” for whomever just wants the internet and doesn’t need specific functions.

That said, she spends a lot of time editing photos, which I am extremely glad about. There are periods where she feels she gets nothing done and I think a lot of that had to do with this laptop not being able to handle RAW files in mass quantity. She treated this poor Celeron based processor like it was her old iBook, which she purchased in 05 to replace this archaic beast but then accidentally destroyed via a cup of tea last year. The hard drive on this Toshiba papereight was dead, but oddly enough the only thing the iBook’s tea bath missed was it’s 30gb Hitachi hard drive.

Matt says, “Vegan Sushi Conspiracy” is a good band name. Maybe when I retire I’ll start an old-school punk band.

So now I type, and I type. Not all god comes from it, but it feels a lot more natural to me to sit with a computer propped up on my lap and hack away at the inner, bitter darkness that is non existant in my writing.
